ALEX SNOW SCRAPES POINTS AT DUNS
04/05/2010 11:49:48

Round 3 of the Maxxis British Championship proved to be a tough day at the office for Albion Kawasaki Alex Snow who struggled through a shoulder injury to scrape as many point as possible to hold his top 10 position in the championship.

After suffering a dislocated right shoulder at the previous weekend Red Bull Pro National, the decision to make the trip to Scotland was decided on Friday afternoon after a week of treatment and rest. Knowing the race would be a tough one Alex wanted to give it his best shot and hope to come away with as many points as possible.

In the morning session of qualifying Snow posted 16th place after struggling to hang it out and push on the very fast and jumpy circuit , but never the less the race is what would prove to be the big test.

In race one Snow had a good start but as they entered the second corner with all the rider bunching up very closely, forcing several riders to cut the track on the inside of the corner, one of which re-joined the track taking Snow’s front wheel out putting him to the floor. Luckily getting off lightly he restarted in last and tried to catch up, unfortunately only managing 21st after feeling very weak and tired around the shoulder he was nursing.

In race two with another good start around the top 10, Snow pushed early on the first few laps trying to go with the front runners but struggled to hold the pace. once they hit halfway through the race Alex could feel the shoulder again getting weaker and more tired and slipped back ending the race 17th.

Race three didn’t get off to the best start but Alex made a few paces early in the race to hold down 16th place. He rode there for most of the race, but with the ever increasing bumps and ruts, this just made thing tougher but Snow managed to hang on in there to clinch 16th and another small handful of points towards his championship.

Snow commented ‘’I’m glad I managed to even be riding here today, but it was tough. i don’t think I’ve ever had to ride so hard for so little points. It’s hard to be riding around in that position when you want to be much higher up, but I just didn’t have any confidence in my shoulder today and it was feeling very weak and fatigued at the end of the races’’.

Alex has a free weekend in the calendar this weekend in which he will rest the shoulder and make sure he can come back stronger for the next round of the Red Bull at Canada Heights in Kent on 16th May.
