After an overnight stay in hospital last Sunday night, following his first race crash at the Hawkstone Park International, factory Red Bull KTM rider Shaun Simpson was discharged on Monday morning with bruising to his face and hip, plus a deep cut to his ring finger on his left hand. On Monday afternoon Shaun visited hand specialist Doctor Campbell at a private clinic in Leeds, Yorkshire for a further opinion regarding his damaged digit. In order to investigate the full extent of the injury to his finger, the young Scot under went a minor procedure without the need for any kind of anaesthetic on Tuesday morning, when the wound was thoroughly cleaned before being closed by a series of stitches. Although the injury will prevent Simpson from riding in the short term, the initial prognosis is good, with Shaun expected to resume full physical training with immediate effect and to be back on a bike within the next seven to ten days. In the coming days Simpson, who will celebrate his twenty second birthday this coming Saturday, will decide his programme ahead of the opening Grand Prix in Bulgaria on 4th April. With his sole aim to be in the best possible shape for this opening encounter proper. Keep up to date with Shaun's road to recovery on his official website at www.shaunsimpson.com
